History

RefWorks-COS represents the merger of two organizations, each focused on providing high-quality online tools and services to assist researchers throughout the work process.

RefWorks, established in 2001, began with an innovative web-based research management, writing and collaboration tool that is used today by over three million researchers globally.

COS, established in 1989, was built on developing tools that researchers and research managers rely upon to find funding sources, collaborators and other information essential to their work. Today, we are one company serving the entire research community.

Through continual innovation, we stay ahead of the research curve, ensuring our customers have the most sophisticated and relevant tools in a rapidly changing research environment. That innovation will continue as long as we're in business, and we'll continue to develop new features and products to enable research at its best.
