For more than 20 years, premier research institutions have used COS Expertise to track and promote the brainpower within their institutions. It's a biographical profile management system that helps institutions easily catalog profiles of faculty's skills, experience and work.
Why COS Expertise?
- Garner exposure for your faculty - Profiles can be selectively posted as a public web page and can be downloaded into CVs or grant application forms.
- Find targeted funding sources - Using the optional COS Administrator's Workbench, you can easily match profiles with global funding opportunities found in our COS Funding Opportunities database.
- Simplify - COS Expertise is a web-based and easy-to-use way to manage researcher and faculty information, with our renowned free support and training included.
Who needs COS Expertise?
Departmental and research administrators use COS Expertise on a daily basis to catalog and manage profiles of faculty and researchers and their work, including research interests, publications, patents and experience. They also use it to match faculty to global funding opportunities via the COS Funding Opportunities database.
How does it work?
Faculty enter their own profile data and updates, such as education, professional history, qualifications, research interests, publications and awards, into their COS Expertise Profiles using any web-connected computer. Users and administrators can then search and manage profiles within their institution based on a variety of criteria.
Promoting Your Institution and Individuals
- Public View of Expertise (PVE) - an add-on module that lets you make your institution's COS Expertise profiles (with your selected fields) available and searchable on your public website. Perfect to Public Affairs, Admissions and Community Relations activities.
- COS Quick Form BioSketch - an optional feature lets you quickly download COS Profile to generate a complete, NIH-approved PHS 398 Biographical Sketch form, required by the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) in all proposal submissions (including electronic).
- MyProfile - each COS Expertise profile has a unique URL that can be used by the individual to promote his work, eliminating the need for separate online CVs. Users may select fields to be displayed.
- COS Quick Form CV - users can quickly download their selected fields from their COS Expertise profile into a CV document (MS Word).
